This small vein of Gold Ore was found in a cave.
Gold Ore is a fairly rare ore in Minecraft. It is also the only ore, aside from iron ore, that requires smelting. Gold Ore looks like a Stone block with gold flecks in it. It occurs in groups of 1-8 blocks. An Iron Pickaxe or stronger is required to mine the ore. Gold ore is the only ore that cannot be mined by a tool made of the same material.
Gold Ore generally spawns in small veins.

- Gold ore makes less durable tools and weapons

- Though there is gold ore in Minecraft, gold is almost always in pure form in real life. Very few elements can form compounds with it.
- In Pocket Edition, and in pc Gold Ore can generate at any level in Mesa Biomes.
- Gold could be very useful if you plan to make a Notch Apple.
How to obtain
- Mine with Iron Pickaxe or Diamond Pickaxe. You can not mine gold with a gold pickaxe.
