This article is about the block dropped from Stone when mined. For the naturally occuring smooth stone, see Stone.

Cobblestone is one of Minecraft's most common blocks, despite the fact that it only appears naturally forming the walls of Dungeons and in the Bottomless Pit superflat world preset, but is dropped when a player mines a Stone block with a pickaxe not enchanted with Silk Touch. Cobblestone can be turned into tools, stairs, slabs and all sorts of things.

How to obtain

  • Mine Stone with any Pickaxe that is not enchanted with Silk Touch.
  • Mine from a Dungeon, Bottomless Pit world, or NPC Village with a wooden pickaxe or higher.
  • Mine where lava and water meet (i.e. cobblestone generator) with a wood pickaxe or higher.

  • The inverted texture of Cobblestone looks identical to End Stone.
  • Despite being obtained from mining Stone, Cobblestone takes longer to mine than Stone.
